HISTORY

Lycus Ltd., began operations in 1988 as Garrison Industries, a privately held custom chemical and toll manufacturer.  In 1994, the company changed its strategic direction and within three years developed its line of MAXGARD® UV absorbers using proprietary technology.

In July, 2000, Garrison Industries was acquired by Edgewater Capital and renamed Lycus Ltd.  The company further expanded its focus on chemical synthesis and contract manufacturing requiring difficult to handle reagents.  In 2004, as part of the strategic growth plan of Edgewater to expand its presence in halogen chemistry, fine and performance chemicals and custom synthesis, the company became an operating division of Syrgis.  To further support the group's strength, Lycus Ltd. was renamed Syrgis Performance Specialties in 2009.

Effective August 31, 2012, one hundred percent of the member units of Lycus Ltd., LLC, formerly Garrison Industries, Inc. was purchased by John Sinclair Enterprises, LLC. The company returned to the name Lycus Ltd.

WHY, LYCUS?

Lycus refers to a river with westerly flow, which meant it had a constant current, moving in a positive direction.  Lycus was an ancient river that brought essential fresh water to the center of early civilization in the Phrygia region. The water provided the means for vitality and growth.  Think of Lycus as the flow of innovation and chemistry to many products that enhance our everyday lives.
