LYCUS LTD.

At Lycus Ltd., we have an extensive line of Maxgard® products with a wide variety of applications. Maxgard® is our version of the organic compound Benzophenone. Benzophenone is the parent diaryl ketone and a widely used building block in organic chemistry. Maxgard® products are used in a multitude of industries with endless applications from preserving lip balm, plastics, perfume, to window film, rose farms, green houses, and even playground equipment. Maxgard® products are added by manufacturers to their own product for the purpose of limiting the exposure of harmful UV radiation to both people and objects.

All of our products are either UV stabilizers, or UV light absorbers. Both a stabilizer and absorber’s job is to absorb the UV rays and dissipate the energy to lower levels so the rays will not degrade your product.

Too much exposure to UV radiation can have negative effects, not only on humans, but on everyday objects as well. The negative effects on objects are not limited to, but include fading, discoloration, cracking, and shorter shelf life. When a person is exposed to excessive UV rays, there are many harmful side effects, as well. Continued exposure to UV radiation can cause people to get sunburns, wrinkles, liver spots, actinic keratosis, solar elastosis, and leathery skin. UV rays can also cause eye problems, such as cataracts, macular degeneration, pterygium, and can damage the cornea so it becomes burned or inflamed.

Our full line of products include Maxgard® 300, Maxgard® 400, Maxgard® 500, Maxgard® 600, Maxgard® 700, Maxgard® 900, Maxgard® 1000Maxgard® 1030Maxgard® 1800, Maxgard® 1888, Maxgard® 2700, Maxgard® 2800, Maxgard® 2900, Maxgard® DPA-2, and Maxgard® DPA-8. Some of our Maxgard® products, such as Maxgard® 1030, are blends of different Benzophenone compounds. Benzophenone naturally appears as a white solid with a flowery odor, but our compounds are powders so they’re easier to manufacture. Maxgard® 1030 is our version of Benzophenone-11, which we created by blending together Benzophenone-2 and Benzophenone-6. Maxgard® 1030 can provide protection for acrylic, polyester, rubber, polyurethanes, stains and varnishes, nitrocellulose lacquers, fluorescent pigments, and photographic emulsions.

We strive to create the best possible line of UV stabilizers and absorbers for our customers, and we take great pride in our product and processes. Our goal is to help reduce exposure to UV radiation, so your final product is as durable and long-lasting as possible.
